| Abstract |
The aim of the conducted research is to try to define a role of school in shaping mountain tourism interests among youth, according to opinions of Wrocław secondary schools' pupils. There has been an answer searched for the following questions. What attitudes concerning mountain tourism pupils of Wroclaw secondary schools usually have? Is school a good environment for preparing youth for practicing mountain tourism? What educational aspects does practicing mountain tourism in Giant Mountains carry? The research has proven that almost half of examined students (42%) from secondary schools has not been to Giant Mountains for the last year, only ca.150 km distant from their living place. According to respondents' opinion, schools do not pass enough knowledge concerning Giant Mountains and does not encourage visiting them, by organizing school trips and field trips, for example. It means school does not appropriately prepare pupils for practicing mountain tourism.
