| Abstract |
Psychological sex and assertiveness belong to human characteristics and abilities prone to social influence. These properties to a large extent determine the individuals' behaviour and their perception of themselves as well as of the surrounding world. The aim of the research was to establish the type of psychological sex and the level of assertive behaviour abilities among students of University School of Physical Education in Wrocław. The correlation between the two properties was also measured. 253 students aged 20-23 took part in the research. In order to obtain the data Psychological Sex Inventory and "Assertiveness Map" were used. The research revealed that both women and men possess mainly androgynous sex, which results from the process of unifying social roles of both sexes. Women appeared to be more assertive than men. The research did not show any significant correlation between the type of psychological sex and the level of assertiveness abilities. Still, it can be assumed that such correlation exists, which, however, should be verified in further research in the area.
